Photos from the January 10 Debate and Candidates’ Forum

Cindy Trego (right), representing the Concerned Citizens of Pinole, debated Councilwoman (and former mayor) Maria Alegria, who is targeted for recall, in the first portion of the evening, the recall debate, sponsored by Common Cause, a good-government watchdog organization. The debate lasted about 30 minutes.

The second portion of the evening, the candidates’ forum, featured everyone running (including Alegria). L-R are Virginia Fujita, Ivette Ricco, Maria Alegria, Steve Denlis, Debbie Long, and Roy Swearingen. The forum was sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Councilman Stephen Tilton, also targeted for recall, refused to participate in either portion.

About 120 people attended the event, with many more watching at home on TV. The recall debate and candidates’ forum — as well as five-minute candidates’ statements and pro-recall and anti-recall statements — are being aired daily on Pinole Public Access TV Channel 26.
